
With an extraordinary season full of hard work, relentless determination, and 3 consecutive wins to clinch the title, the 11-12 year old girls softball team from Wheelersburg, Ohio won the 2018 Little League World Series.
The amazing team became the first team from Ohio – baseball or softball – to ever win the Little League World Series.
The final game pitted the ‘Burg against a tough opponent from Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. Wheelersburg pitcher AndiJo Howard dominated on the mound, pitching the third and final contest, striking out 7 for the win. She allowed only 3 hits to complete the magical season and help the team bring home the championship.
Head coach Dusty Salyers gave his team credit for their efforts all season and in the final game in Oregon, Little League is awesome” he said. “It will teach the value of teamwork, and most of all, community and pride.”
